I go to Saratoga Springs High School, and I play the cello.
I played the first movement of Elgar's Cello Concerto.
I would describe it as deeply sorrowful.
I enjoy the contrast between the characters in this piece.
I imagine it as, like, multiple stages of grief.
Like, there's the, like, outcries, the anguish, and then there's, like, the happy memories and the very lyrical parts.
I would say this piece definitely has its technically challenging parts, but I think the hardest part is just knowing how to capture each mood of the character.
I chose this piece.
I just thought it was the next best concerto to learn, and I've always loved it.
I try to practice every day.
Some days it doesn't go that way, but.
Yeah, I always warm up with, like, a tonalization, so I just try to find my tone and feeling how the bow is moving and how my fingers are moving.
And then I do some scales with a drone to really fine tune my intonation.
And then I usually move on to an etude or a piece that I'm working on, and I like to block out my practice.
I'm like very organized about it, and I'm like, religious about how I like, track it so I know how to improve.
My conductor, Etienne Abelin, nominated me.
I would like to thank first Etienne for nominating me and being the most amazing conductor.
I'd like to thank my mom, my dad and my stepmom for being a huge support to me.
And I'd also like to thank my grandma, who is my favorite accompanist ever.
