And now, "If You Lived Here".
A WETA original series.
RICARDO: Hey, DMV.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a different part of DC?
JEN: To try a new home or neighborhood on for size?
RICARDO: Well, you're in luck.
JEN: I'm Jen.
RICARDO: And I'm Ricardo.
Today we're going to be touring not one, but three open houses.
JEN: After each home tour, we'll try to guess the listing prices without going over.
RICARDO: And together, we'll find out what it would be like...
BOTH: If you lived here!
(doorbell) JEN: Hey.
RICARDO: Hey, Jay.
JAY: Hey, Jen and Ricardo.
Welcome to Old Town Square in Fairfax City!
JEN: Thanks for having us.
JAY: Yeah, I've lived here since 1993 right out of college and Fairfax City has a lot of things to do.
So where you're standing, the fourth Friday of every month they have Rock the Block, so live music, and that happens spring all the way through fall.
And Fairfax City has a great Chocolate Lovers Festival in February.
Yes.
RICARDO: Oh, I do like some chocolate, okay, good to know.
JAY: Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
RICARDO: But it seems like there's more than just the town of Fairfax, right?
JAY: Yes.
RICARDO: It's bigger than just the town.
JAY: Yes, within Fairfax County, there's Fairfax, including the City of Fairfax, which stands alone in the middle with its own mayor, has its own little culture and vibe to it.
JEN: Yeah, and George Mason University is nearby.
JAY: Right, just a mile south of here.
RICARDO: Does it have a lot of commuter options available for folks?
JAY: Yes, so if you're driving, you can hop on 66, which will take you into downtown if you want.
The Cue Bus which is a really inexpensive bus to Vienna Metro and there's also another metro Dunn Loring Metro.
JEN: What can you tell us about the housing inventory here?
JAY: There's something for everyone here so you have condos, townhomes, and those dream homes as well.
JEN: I'm really excited to go and tour house number one.
RICARDO: Take us away, Jay.
JAY: All right.
(doorbell) Jen and Ricardo, welcome to property number one.
We are a little bit west of where we met.
We're still in Fairfax but outside the city limits.
JEN: Nice.
RICARDO: This is great and this is super convenient to shopping like right across the street, five steps I'm at a Whole Foods.
JAY: Yeah, East Market area just has a lot to offer.
You could just roll out of bed in the morning, get your coffee, and get some shopping done.
And this unit is pretty unique because it's on the ground floor, so not only can you just enter into the main part of the building but you have your own private entrance through oversized patio.
And the condo just feels like actually a home because of the size and the high ceilings.
RICARDO: I love high ceilings.
JEN: We love the high ceilings.
Well, I'm really excited to see the inside.
RICARDO: Yeah, let's take a look.
JEN: All right.
RICARDO: All right.
JEN: We'll see you afterwards for the game?
JAY: Great, take a look and I'll see you right after.
JEN: All right.
RICARDO: All right.
JAY: Okay.
JEN: Whoop-whoop!
JEN: Oh.
RICARDO: Oh, okay, yeah.
All right, Jay was right.
These are high ceilings.
I'm very impressed.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: But right here, you've got this entertainment area.
This is a cozy place to chill out.
Oh, this is great.
Look at this.
(Jen laughs).
Isn't this great?
JEN: I know you love your high ceilings.
RICARDO: I love this open concept too.
Look at this.
You feel immediately connected with every area of the house.
You've got the living area, the dining area here.
JEN: You could be in here prepping and cooking while you're watching TV with your family.
RICARDO: And then this wallpaper.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: I kind of dig this.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: I kind of dig the way it complements the cabinets.
JEN: I like the width of the kitchen.
Sometimes, you know, in a smaller kitchen, you're like shimmying past your, you know... RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: Your kids, your partner, your dogs.
RICARDO: Also, what I like about this place is you've got the open concept, but you also have little areas of privacy that you can sort of escape to.
JEN: Yeah, usually you get one or the other, right?
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: You get privacy or you get an open space.
Oh, oh, this is much bigger than I expected.
RICARDO: And look at the size of this window.
This is perfect.
JEN: Yeah, that is a big window for a bedroom.
RICARDO: And these are interesting contemporary lighting fixtures.
JEN: Yeah.
So we have a nice big closet over here, and then I'm seeing another door in the corner.
So let's go check that out.
RICARDO: All right.
What's around here?
Ah, full bath.
JEN: Oh, cute.
RICARDO: Stand up shower, I like that.
Look at those tiles, that's nice tile work.
JEN: Yeah.
Really like that.
RICARDO: I like the large tiles.
JEN: I really like this countertop.
It's really complimenting the color palette.
Kind of like, dust, desert, you know?
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: It's nice.
Let's see what else we got.
RICARDO: All right.
JEN: All right.
RICARDO: I have to take a look at this patio.
JEN: Okay, wait a minute, wait.
Is this not shared with another unit?
RICARDO: No, it's all this unit.
JEN: Are you kidding?
This is gigantic.
What's more coveted in condo living than access to outdoor space that is your own?
RICARDO: I love it.
JEN: I hate to pull you away, but we have to go look at this bedroom.
RICARDO: Okay.
We'll be back, we'll be back.
JEN: We'll come back.
We'll be back.
RICARDO: Ah, again, this is a nice size.
JEN: Yeah, with a beautiful window.
RICARDO: And these built-ins.
They're similar to the built-ins in the front when we walked in.
JEN: And enough space here for a Cali King bed.
RICARDO: A Cali King, yeah, you're right.
JEN: Let's see what we have down the hall.
RICARDO: Okay.
JEN: Oh, nice.
RICARDO: Okay.
JEN: Keeping with the tone of the color in here.
RICARDO: I love it, it's got a Jacuzzi tub.
JEN: It also carried over the tile work that you liked from the other bathroom.
RICARDO: It did, yeah, yeah.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: It goes halfway up.
And dual sinks.
JEN: Love the dual sinks.
RICARDO: Let's go find Jay out on that patio... JEN: Oh, the patio.
Yes.
RICARDO: And play the game.
JEN: All right, let's go.
Uh, we're finally on the patio.
RICARDO: Wow, look at this.
JEN: Gorgeous.
RICARDO: There's Jay way over there.
JEN: Hey.
JAY: So what did you think of the condo?
RICARDO: First of all, you were right about the high ceilings.
I loved it.
JEN: That was definitely not your typical condo layout, which really surprised me right when we walked through the door.
JAY: And I love the natural cherry cabinets.
RICARDO: It really made the kitchen very warm, and I love the wallpaper as well.
JAY: Mm-hmm.
JEN: And this patio.
RICARDO: Is massive.
JAY: Yes.
JEN: We thought that this patio was actually shared between multiple units before we realized that this is all yours.
RICARDO: You never have to go through the inside.
JAY: Yeah.
JEN: How convenient if you have pets.
JAY: Yeah.
JEN: So what is the condo fee here?
JAY: So the condo fee is $635 a month.
That includes all the amenities, the pool, the fitness exercise room, and two garage parking spaces.
JEN: That is a major upsell, I think.
JAY: Mm-hmm.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: Now, before we play the game... JAY: Mm-hmm.
RICARDO: Would you tell us the stats of this condo one more time?
JAY: So the condo has two bedrooms, two and half bathrooms, 1,484 square feet, and it was built in 2007.
(Jen sighs) JEN: Okay.
RICARDO: Okay.
JAY: And don't forget about the patio.
RICARDO: And the patio, yes.
JAY: Yeah.
RICARDO: All right.
JEN: Uh, how could I forget about this gorgeous space?
JAY: Yeah.
RICARDO: All that in mind, I will go first.
I will guess 612,000.
JAY: Okay.
JEN: All right, I'm gonna go a little higher than that.
RICARDO: Okay.
JEN: I'm gonna guess 655,900.
JAY: And the list price is, a little drum roll here, 675,000.
JEN: Whoa!
RICARDO: Whoa!
Wow!
JAY: Jen, congratulations on the win.
Let's go to property number two.
We're going to actually end up back in Fairfax City, where we started.
I can't wait to show you this home.
It is gorgeous.
JEN: All right.
RICARDO: All right, I'm psyched.
JEN: Me too.
SUSAN: The permanent Fairfax County Courthouse was finished in April of 1800 and was a center of activity through the end of the Civil War.
The very first land engagement took place around the courthouse on June the first, 1861.
Once the Union forces had control of this area of Fairfax, they did take over private homes.
An example of that would be the Willcoxon family home that had just been built in 1859.
The family had left to seek shelter with relatives in Loudoun County.
ANDREA: When the Union soldiers came into the house, it was an abandoned house that had bare plaster, and they left their pictures, their sayings, their names, their regiments, all over the walls of the house.
It is an amazing thing that helps us learn about the soldiers.
The family knew there was graffiti in the attic because they never covered it over.
When the city purchased this property, on the first and second floors, the walls were covered with wallpaper and underneath that, many layers of paint.
And so we proceeded to look for more graffiti underneath those layers.
But there were some areas where they couldn't remove the paint.
And so that is when Mike Toth was brought in to find soldiers.
MIKE: We illuminate the walls just with narrow bands of light.
We put all those colors of the rainbow on the wall individually.
And then we take a picture.
We combined those using a statistical algorithm in a very powerful computer to help Andrea and other researchers identify the information they need.
ANDREA: For years I was wondering who Stephen W was.
All we could read on this wall was Stephen W and then began with an M and ended with what I thought was a Y. Mike handed me the images on the computer.
I could take that black-and-white photo, that was the one that was most distinct, blow it up, and put it against a Civil War database, and that was how I was able to track down Stephen W. Millichamp.
It was very exciting to put a face to the name.
Our soldiers are really a time capsule.
Here are their names that have been on the walls of this house for 160 years.
It really brings a very human element.
They aren't just writings.
They are true human beings who had been here.
(doorbell) JAY: Ricardo and Jen were at house number 2.
So this community of Rustfield just has 55 homes and they're all townhomes.
RICARDO: Very large for a townhouse.
JEN: Yeah.
JAY: Yeah.
The size of these homes just lend itself to almost feeling like a single-family home.
It's a little different because when you think of townhomes, you think of straight vertical up and this splits it up a little bit.
JEN: Love that.
RICARDO: Great.
JAY: Then one of the best features in this community is the walking path and you can take it right behind the home and go right to Fairfax City in the center of town in literally two blocks.
RICARDO: So where we were earlier when we saw that great shopping and stuff.
JAY: Oh, yeah.
JEN: Honestly, that feels very unexpected... RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: Considering how quiet and green this part of the neighborhood is.
JAY: Mm-hmm, so I have a couple of things I want you to think about as you go in here.
Let's call it a scavenger hunt.
RICARDO: Oh, okay.
JAY: Okay, so I want you to look for the laundry area, which is not in an obvious place.
And then look for the panda bear.
RICARDO: The panda bear?
JAY: Yes, but don't feed it.
RICARDO: But what about all this bamboo?
(Jay laughs).
No, I'm kidding.
All right, we'll be on the lookout for a panda bear and the laundry.
JAY: Enjoy the tour, and let's meet back for the game.
JEN: All right, see ya, I'm intrigued.
RICARDO: Me too.
JEN: Oh.
RICARDO: Oh, this isn't what I expected at all.
JEN: No, look at all these doors.
RICARDO: This room here is really drawing my eye.
I think we should check this out.
JEN: All righty.
RICARDO: Oh, they've got it set up.
That's part workout room, part hangout area.
JEN: Yeah.
Office.
RICARDO: There's so much potential in this one room.
(Jen laughs).
Let's see what else is around here.
JEN: Yeah, what do we have here?
Oh, full bath.
RICARDO: Oh, a bathroom.
JEN: Ah!
RICARDO: I think we found one of the items on our scavenger hunt.
JEN: Yay, look at our little panda panda.
Well, this bathroom could maybe use some updates, not the wallpaper, but I think it's a really nice full bath on the lower level, which I appreciate.
RICARDO: It's a good size, too.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: Oh, here, wanna look at this.
JEN: Oh, this is great.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: This is like a perfect in-law suite.
You don't have to go up a single stair.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: Whoa.
RICARDO: Wow.
JEN: Yeah, we gotta go over here first.
RICARDO: Yeah, look at this.
JEN: This is stunning.
RICARDO: Wood-burning fireplace.
JEN: I'm loving the mantle and the crown molding.
RICARDO: The light coming in from these doors and these transom windows really opens up the space too.
JEN: My eye is absolutely drawn out there.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: Wow.
RICARDO: Oh, hey.
JEN: This is pretty.
RICARDO: This is classy but open.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: You've got this wonderful view into the living area, and you've got this wonderful window into that amazing kitchen.
JEN: Yeah, this medallion molding with the chandelier, beautiful.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: The crown molding also just really adds some depth to the room.
But yeah, this is another, like, great entertaining opportunity.
You can interact with the people in the living room.
"Hey, get me something from the kitchen."
And, "Hey, kitchen, I need something from the living room."
(Ricardo laughs).
I just think the flow is actually really nice.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: Well, I think we have got to get into this kitchen.
RICARDO: Yes.
JEN: Yes, I'm dying.
RICARDO: Let's go.
JEN: Oh, wow.
RICARDO: Look at this.
JEN: So bright and airy in here.
I already am in love with it.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: The granite countertops throughout.
Now, the appliances seem super up-to-date.
RICARDO: The oven is actually separate from the stovetop.
JEN: I love that.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
And then all this extra storage that you got over here.
JEN: Yeah.
Look at these pull-outs.
RICARDO: Jen, guess what?
I found the other item on the scavenger hunt list.
JEN: No!
RICARDO: The super-secret laundry.
JEN: It really is super-secret.
RICARDO: Yeah, super convenient, no stairs necessary.
JEN: I love it.
Let's see what else we have on this floor.
RICARDO: Okay.
Oh, is this the primary I wonder?
JEN: Oh, primary.
It must be, it's huge.
RICARDO: Yeah, it is huge.
JEN: Wow.
RICARDO: This window spans basically the whole wall on this side.
JEN: Yeah, that is beautiful.
And I love being able to see the backyard.
It's very relaxing.
What do we have back here?
RICARDO: I love this little vanity area.
JEN: And another full bath.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: This is some beautiful wallpaper.
I think it could maybe just use some updating.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: All right, let's continue the tour.
RICARDO: Look at the wallpaper in this bathroom.
JEN: Oh, it's so pretty.
RICARDO: It is.
No pandas but I like butterflies.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: There's another room right here.
JEN: All righty.
RICARDO: Nice.
JEN: Guest bedroom.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: Big closet, love that.
And then we also have kind of the cottage shutter windows.
RICARDO: Oh yeah, those are nice.
JEN: Which I think are so cute.
Well, I think we've reached the end of the tour.
RICARDO: Does that mean that you're ready to play the game?
JEN: No.
RICARDO: Well, then let's go play the game.
JEN: All right, let's go find Jay.
(Ricardo laughs).
JEN: Hey.
JAY: Jen and Ricardo, what did you think of house number two?
RICARDO: I am blown away.
This is considered a townhouse... JAY: Yes.
RICARDO: Because there's so much space in there.
It was so surprising.
The dining room had this sense of intimacy, although it was open to the living room... JAY: Mm-hmm.
RICARDO: And open into the kitchen, you could still have formal dinners.
JAY: It is really smartly designed because, in a beautiful day like today, you can just open up the sliding glass doors.
Then you've got this yard along with a patio too.
JEN: I loved the kitchen.
And then the very special surprise, yeah.
RICARDO: Yes.
JAY: Oh, you found the scavenger hunt item?
BOTH: We did.
RICARDO: You would have never known the washer and dryer is hidden there.
JAY: So what about the wallpaper in this home?
RICARDO: The wallpaper, okay.
All right, the wallpaper.
We found the panda and all his little friends.
(laughter).
But I have to say, the wallpaper in the bathrooms was a lovely touch.
It made each bathroom feel unique.
JAY: Yeah, so this mid-range townhome is four bedrooms, three full baths, 3,000 square feet, and was built in 1981.
JEN: I'm gonna guess 935,000.
JAY: Okay.
RICARDO: Okay, I am gonna go higher.
JAY: Hmm.
RICARDO: I'm gonna guess 999,000.
JEN: Whoa.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JAY: So the list price is $974,888.
RICARDO: Oh, come on.
JEN: Whoo-hoo!
RICARDO: All right, good job.
JEN: Aw, two for my two wins.
RICARDO: That's right.
Congratulations.
JEN: Thank you, thank you.
RICARDO: But I still have one shot to win.
JAY: So let's go take a look at the dream home.
JEN: Please, let's go.
JAY: All right, let's go.
RICARDO: It shall be mine.
SUSAN: In the post-Civil War period, the northern farmers brought with them new technologies, crop rotation, the use of fertilizers.
That led to a rich grazing land, which provided the impetus for really the boom in dairy farming.
Extending to the '30s, '40s, '50s, and early '60s, two main highway routes, Route 50 and Route 29, were lined with amenities catering to the traveling vacationer.
As the dairy industry declined, suburbia came to Fairfax very quickly.
So the population really exploded.
And that led to the creation of the City of Fairfax in 1961.
DANIELLE: Woody's Ice Cream is a family-owned business that's been located in Fairfax City for 25 years.
Woody Lashley is my grandfather and he started Woody's Ice Cream in 1998 as a hobby after he sold his automotive business by building a trailer in his backyard and then selling ice cream out of the trailer.
In 2009, he purchased this property and redid the store inside.
I want to take over my grandfather's legacy.
I've added a lot of novelties, including the heart ice cream and a lot of different toppings.
Customers have been coming here when we started and are now here with their children.
MEGAN: Is that yummy?
DANIELLE: So it's really nice to see that.
MEGAN: We've been coming to Woody's for years.
He loves the milkshakes... JOHN: Yes.
MEGAN: And I like the soft serve.
CUSTOMER: Thank you.
DANIELLE: You're welcome.
WOODY: It's a great city to live in.
It's grown quite a bit, but it's still a small-town atmosphere.
(doorbell) RICARDO: What a great big yard.
I love this.
JAY: Welcome to house number three, our dream home.
RICARDO: The yard is immense.
The, I love the stonework here.
JAY: Yeah, it's a half-acre lot here too, along with the custom build home.
RICARDO: Oh, wow.
So can you tell us a little bit about what else is in the neighborhood?
JAY: This home is adjacent to Rutherford community and you have the community pool and the trails.
We also have the Metro and Pentagon bus right out here as well too, so easy for commuting from this location.
We're also by the Mosaic District.
Great area to just spend an afternoon to get a bite to eat or do a little bit of shopping.
JEN: Jay, what can we expect to see inside this beautiful home?
JAY: So the first thing you're going to fall in love with is the gourmet kitchen.
RICARDO: Hey, speaking your language.
JAY: And this six-bedroom home has nearly a bathroom for every single bedroom in there and I know you're gonna love it.
So let's meet back here for the game.
And Ricardo, remember this is your last chance.
I'm rooting for you, so take in everything in here so that you can have that right number.
JEN: Yes!
RICARDO: Okay, I can do this.
JAY: Yes, All right, enjoy.
JEN: See ya.
RICARDO: Thanks, Jay.
JEN: Whoa.
RICARDO: Wow.
JEN: Definitely new house smell.
RICARDO: Definitely got that new house smell, I love it.
JEN: There's a lot of different places to go right off the bat.
So... RICARDO: Yeah, which way do you want to?
JEN: I kind of like this room.
It's bright.
RICARDO: This is great.
Lovely windows.
I like it.
JEN: With all the natural light in here, I think this could be like a cozy, cute little library.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: Let's check out this dining room.
RICARDO: Wow.
This dark hardwood floor that runs all throughout is really nice.
JEN: Yeah.
I also like this accent wall.
Well, we should move on to this living room.
RICARDO: Yeah, we gotta check that out.
JEN: Okay.
RICARDO: Wow, look at that.
Look at these stairs.
JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: This is nice too.
Wait, wait, Jen, what is this room?
Wow.
JEN: Oh, it's one of the bedroom-bathroom combos that Jay told us about.
RICARDO: Yeah, it's got a stand-up shower.
It's got great tile work.
JEN: Oh, yeah, I like the honeycomb.
RICARDO: This is luxurious.
JEN: Let's take a look at this bedroom.
RICARDO: Look at this.
This is a great size bedroom.
JEN: Yeah, really.
RICARDO: These windows offer a great view of that half-acre yard.
JEN: I appreciate it being on the first level, so no stairs.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm.
JEN: This is great.
All right, maybe this time we'll make it to the living room.
RICARDO: Yeah, let's try not to get distracted.
JEN: Okay.
Whoa!
RICARDO: Oh, wow.
I love the stonework.
These windows are magnificent.
JEN: I really like the style of the ceiling fan.
Kind of looks nautical, almost like they took the steering wheel off a ship and turned it into a fan.
I kind of like the vibe.
RICARDO: Yeah, that is neat.
This whole room is just so comfortable.
JEN: Well, perhaps you can stay here and get comfortable because I cannot wait another minute to get into that kitchen.
RICARDO: I can come with you.
JEN: Hello, beautiful.
RICARDO: This quartz countertop is gorgeous.
And the veining through here has got a gold tone, which picks up the backsplash.
JEN: It really warms the room.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JEN: Also, it's a great contrast with this dark navy.
And then the six-burner stove, double oven, and a griddle.
RICARDO: That is massive.
JEN: I'm super inspired in this kitchen.
RICARDO: Are you?
JEN: Yeah, and I really love these pendant kind of jellyfish light fixtures.
RICARDO: That's beautiful.
JEN: Let's head downstairs.
Wow, this runs the whole length of the house.
RICARDO: And you also have access to the yard down here.
JEN: I see a water hookup.
You could have a nice little kitchenette in this space.
RICARDO: Yeah.
Let's make our ascent.
JEN: Up, up, up we go.
What a great landing up here.
RICARDO: It is.
This is definitely a showpiece.
JEN: Wow.
RICARDO: It really sort of draws your eye into the stairwell.
It's just like looking into an Escher.
JEN: Yeah, you're right.
All right.
Nice size bedroom.
Lots of natural light in here as well.
Another bathroom.
RICARDO: Wait.
JEN: What?
RICARDO: It's a Jack and Jill.
JEN: So you have a private vanity and then a shared bathroom between the two rooms and then another private vanity.
RICARDO: Mm-hmm, you can close the door off and have privacy.
JEN: Yep, here we are, another bedroom.
Well, I cannot wait to check out this primary.
You ready?
RICARDO: Yeah, let's go.
JEN: All right.
RICARDO: Double door entry, that's nice.
JEN: Whoa!
RICARDO: Oh, wow.
Check out the ceiling.
JEN: Yeah, and you have enough room for a sitting area or dressers.
RICARDO: And the accent wall here is similar to downstairs.
JEN: Yeah, it carried over well.
And then these windows are just so beautiful.
RICARDO: I guess there's another bathroom here.
JEN: All right, let's see.
RICARDO: No, this is more.
This is a walk-in closet.
JEN: Wow, that really is a walk-in closet.
RICARDO: That's enormous.
JEN: Wow, and then we have another one right here.
RICARDO: Another walk-in closet.
JEN: What's the, oh!
RICARDO: I can't even... JEN: I just need a minute.
RICARDO: This is the most space I've seen in a bathroom ever.
I love the dual vanities, I love dual shower heads.
The tile work is pristine.
And this soaking tub, clearly the centerpiece of the room.
JEN: I have no words.
RICARDO: Well, do you have a number?
JEN: Yeah, this is going to be tough.
Uh, let's go find Jay.
RICARDO: All right.
JEN: All right.
Hey, Jay.
RICARDO: Hey, Jay.
JAY: Welcome back.
What did you think of the house?
JEN: Walking through the front door, there's so much to look at... JAY: Mm-hmm.
JEN: That we actually struggled with where to start!
But then once we were through the house, we thought that the layout was very thoughtful.
RICARDO: And I know Jen is super excited about this kitchen.
JAY: Well, I think the kitchen really lives up to the dream house that you would want.
JEN: Yes, and given the gold fixtures and the gold veining in the quartz, it's very warm.
RICARDO: Yeah.
JAY: The six-burner stove, the griddle, so you could be making the eggs while the pancakes are being made.
I can even smell it in here.
JEN: Absolutely.
RICARDO: And you also have this open concept.

JEN: With all of the stone all the way up to the ceiling.
JAY: That rough-cut quartz is just a great touch on that fireplace.
RICARDO: And the upstairs definitely didn't disappoint.
JAY: So this home is six bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, 6,000 square feet, and completed in 2024.
So Ricardo, are you ready with your number?
RICARDO: I am not but I'm gonna give you one anyway.
(Jen laughs).
JAY: Okay.
RICARDO: I'm going to guess 1,793,000.
JEN: Okay.
I'm going to guess 1,600,000.
JAY: Okay, and the correct list price is $1,798,000.
RICARDO: Oh!
JEN: Yeah!
JAY: Great job, you got really close.
RICARDO: Well, I was worried, too.
I was worried.
JAY: But... RICARDO: The new construction here in Fairfax... JEN: Yeah.
RICARDO: I mean, everything in this house screams class.
